Meredith Sumpter

Head, Research Strategy & Operations, Eurasia Group

 

Meredith leads Eurasia Group’s research management and strategy, in addition to her advisory work with an emphasis on global politics, domestic drivers of the new geopolitics, and 21st century trade, growth, and disruption. Her research interests center on the politics of domestic renewal at a time of geopolitical disruption. Meredith has held senior positions in the private and public sectors and has nearly 20 years of experience in policy, analysis, business, and management. She is a strategic thinker and thought leader who regularly meets with senior officials and executives, and who often speaks at conferences and to the media. Meredith advises industry leaders and investors on politics and commercial strategy. Her experience spans multiple regions and sectors including ICT, fast-moving consumer goods, healthcare, banking and finance, and energy and commodities.

Meredith joined Eurasia Group after leading strategic advisory for Fortune 500 clients across Asia, including in Indonesia, India, and China. Prior to that, she served as a diplomat, including in Beijing, where she advised two US ambassadors and analyzed politics, economics, and security issues for the policy community. She has held advisory positions in policy and global think tanks, as well as in the US Senate. She started her career working among business executives and engineers at a Fortune 100 multinational company, where she worked to expand the firm’s product base worldwide. Meredith speaks Mandarin Chinese and is an honors graduate of both the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Washington in Seattle.
