Chief Investment Officer
Jim R. Hille, CFA, CAIA

James R. Hille was appointed the first Chief Investment Officer of Texas Christian University in May 2006. Formerly he was the Chief Investment Officer of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, a $100 billion public pension plan. From 1992 to 1995, he managed portfolios for the Employees Retirement System of Texas. From 1990 to 1992, Mr. Hille worked as an assistant to the international portfolio manager at a large family office in Fort Worth while earning an MBA in finance from TCU. With a BS in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy class of 1983, Mr. Hille served for six years as a Marine Corps officer. He has served as president of the Austin Society of Financial Analysts, and an adjunct finance professor for the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. Mr. Hille is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.


Director of Alternative Assets
M. Keith Garrison, CPM

M. Keith Garrison is the Director of Alternative Assets for the Texas Christian University Endowment, a position he has held since November 2007. He is responsible for directing the investment process for private equity, real estate, and other private market investments including policy/strategy development, due diligence underwriting, and portfolio management. Target allocations for alternatives include 13% for Private Equity, 4% for Real Estate, 10% for minerals and energy, and 6% for Opportunistic. Mr. Garrison worked for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas since September 1989 serving as a real estate asset manager, chief asset manager, Director of Real Estate and, at the time of his departure, Director of Private Markets. His prior experience includes lending positions with two commercial banks in the Austin area. Mr. Garrison earned a BBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980 and the Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management in 1998.


Senior Asset Manager
Jason R. Safran, CFA

Jason R. Safran is the Senior Asset Manager for Texas Christian University’s Endowment, a position he has held since August 2012. He is responsible for researching and evaluating investment opportunities across asset classes.


Jason began his career as a Research Associate with John McStay Investment Counsel, an investment boutique. After business school, he joined Cimarron Asset Management, a Dallas-based institutional investment advisory firm that specialized in the management of relative-value portfolios. Following a merger, he continued managing relative-value portfolios for Smith Asset Management, L.P. Prior to joining Texas Christian University, he was a Senior Investment Analyst for Texas Capital Bank.


Jason earned his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006. He earned his BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University in 2001. Jason was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2005 and serves as a director for the CFA Society of Dallas-Ft. Worth.


Senior Investment Analyst
Lauren Farrelly Searway

Lauren Farrelly Searway is a Senior Investment Analyst for Texas Christian University’s Endowment, which is a position she has held since September 2014. She is responsible for researching and evaluating investment opportunities across asset classes. Lauren previously worked as an Analyst Intern for the TCU Endowment while earning a BBA in finance and minor in Japanese from TCU in 2011. Prior to joining TCU, Lauren was a Senior Investment Analyst for Prudential Capital Group’s Energy Finance Group in Dallas. She was a member of a transaction team responsible for assisting to manage a $6.5 billion portfolio while structuring complex transactions including private placement debt, mezzanine and equity investments in power project and utility finance. Prior to earning her degree, Lauren worked for several years as a Senior Intern for Congresswoman Kay Granger in both her district and Capitol Hill offices. She previously served as a Congressional Page for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.

Alaina M. Parker

Alaina M. Parker is the Investment Operations Coordinator for Texas Christian University’s Endowment. She earned her BBA from TCU’s Neeley School of Business in 2000 and has been working in the Investment office since 2006. She is responsible for office operations reporting and cash flows, Investment Committee coordination, the annual Endowment audit, and executive assistance.
